Jerome Joseph “Jody” Wille Jr., 71, of Iola died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
Jody was born Oct. 23, 1939, in Iola, to Jerome J. “Jerry” and Virginia M. (Shaefer) Wille. He grew up in Iola and Yates Center and graduated from Yates Center High School. He had made his home in the Woodson and Allen counties areas most of his life where he worked as a self-employed brick mason.
On March 29, 2003, Jody married Martha J. (Wiles) Sirota. They made their home in Iola.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola, Iola Elks and Iola American Legion. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his friends and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Jodi LuAnn Wille, Iola, and Susan Stanley, Garnett; four stepchildren, Mary Sirota and Josh Sirota, both of Iola, Sam Sirota, Yates Center, and Ashley Collins, Newton; his mother, Virginia Wille, Iola; three sisters, Judy Willett and her husband, Pete, Topeka, Sandy Gilbertson and her husband, Bob, Antioch, Ill., and Cathy Lynch and her husband, Marvin, Iola; 15 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1975, a brother, Michael R. “Mike” in 1994, a sister, Michelle R. “Missy” Bolen in 1995, and a grandson, Hunter Shaw in 2001.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola followed by a Mass at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant.
Cremation will follow the Mass with inurnment in St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery in Piqua at a later date.
