Funeral services for Opal Lucille Holt of LaHarpe, whose death Sunday was reported in Monday’s Register, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Iola’s Church Of Christ. Burial will be in LaHarpe Cemetery.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Paola, the daughter of Roley and Marguarite (Stalker) Parrish. She lived in and attended school in Yates Center until the age of 16. She then moved to Missouri where she finished high school and graduated from the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.
On April 27, 1946, she married Calvin L. “Billy” Holt in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita where she worked as a loan officer for a savings and loan company. They later lived in Oklahoma, Florida, Missouri and California before retiring and moving to LaHarpe in 1990. He died Jan. 3, 2003.
She was a member of Church of Christ, LaHarpe Loyal Neighbors Club and an Extension Homemakers Unit.
She is survived by a brother, Willis Parrish, Iola; sisters-in-law, Nancy Holt, Collinsville, Okla., and Shirley Parrish, Moore, Okla.; nieces, Sharon Prather, Porterville, Calif., Glenda Pargman, Iola, Sandy Keating, Olathe, Denise Parrish, Wichita, Belinda Cuevas, Broken Arrow, Okla., Cynthia Combs and Kelley Murray, Claremore, Okla., and Eva Haraway, Fort Smith, Ark.; and nephews, Roley Taylor, Porterville, Wayne Elwood Parrish, Moultrie, Ga., Michael Parrish, Blanchard, Okla., Eldon Roy Parrish, Moore, Okla., Paul Parrish, Tonkawa, Okla., and Robert Holt, Collinsville.
Two brothers, Harvey and Wayne, two sisters, Edna and Grace, and by two nephews, Gary Taylor and Danny Parrish, died earlier.
