Jimmie Charles “Jim” Shrum, 84, Hidden Valley Lakes, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Jim was born April 16, 1933, in Denver, Colo., to Calvin James and Fern Lula (Greenfield) Shrum. His father was an actor in western movies and young Jimmie starred in “Trouble At Melody Mesa” with his dad. Jim enjoyed fishing, playing cards, woodworking, making clocks and watching old westerns. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Nemeth) Shrum; parents, Cal and Fern Shrum; one brother, Donald Leroy “Roy” Shrum; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Survivors include three sons, Jimmie Shrum, Alexandria, Va., Gary Shrum, Clovis, Calif., and Bill “Buzz” Shrum and wife Diana, Mapleton; one daughter, Sherri Fox, Phoenix, Ariz.; one-daughter-in-law, Sue Shrum, Iola; one brother, Gary Shrum, Mena, Ariz.; two sisters, Carla Hicks and Nancy Freeman, both of Denver; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his special friend, Charlotte Emert.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hidden Valley Lake Clubhouse, 93 Hackberry Rd., Mapleton. A potluck meal will be at 3 o’clock, followed by karaoke. Inurnment will be in Petersburg Oakland Cemetery, Petersburg, Ill.
