Naida Ardell House, 88, Iola, passed away peacefully from heart failure on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, at Greystone Residential Home in Iola.
Naida was born on Jan. 16, 1928, in Michigan City, Ind., the only child of Delbert and Ella (Harris) Bradley.
She became a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1943 and sang in their all girls’ choir. She graduated from South High School Grand Rapids in January 1946. She attended Grand Rapids Junior College for 1½years.
Naida married Allan MacFadden on Oct. 9, 1948, in Grand Rapids. They had three children. She became a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1967 loving a liturgical church saying “This is home.” She was divorced in 1968 and married Leon House on April 17, 1971, in Grand Rapids. She moved to Iola in June 2002 to live with her daughter.
Naida was employed as a bank teller for 14 years. She loved music, sang in choirs from 1943 to 2010, and enjoyed Bible studies. She had a life membership in Indian Mounds Rock and Mineral Club Grand Rapids, was a member of Wichita Gem and Mineral Society, and made gem trees which she sold at gem and mineral shows in Kansas, Michigan and Indiana. She was a Saturday docent for the Allen Country Historical Society.
Naida is survived by her children, David (Diane) MacFadden, Gig Habor, Wash., Kim (Bruce) Kristalyn, Iola, Bruce (Laurie) MacFadden, Grand Haven, Mich.; stepchildren, David (Linda) House, Orlando, Fla., Leonore Mehs, Priest River, Idaho, and Karen (John) Shuman, Lebanon, Pa.; eight grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 19 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and stepdaughter, Marcia Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Iola. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place at a later date at Garfield Park Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
