Word has been received of the death in Vietnam on March 17 of Marine Cpl. John J. Harris, 19, of Iola. Cpl. Harris was a 1966 graduate of Iola High School who enlisted in the Marines in August of that year and was sent to Vietnam in August of 1967. Surviving are his wife, Leora of Iola and a one-year-old son, John Jr.
Dudley Henderson, local insurance man whose roots in the business go back to 1887, has sold his agency to Henry Kipp. The Henderson Agency began in 1887 when Hendersons grandfather, H.L. Henderson, started a real estate and insurance agency in Iola. From 1949 to 1967, Henderson was manager and secretary of the Security Savings and Loan Association and in recent years has also been involved with Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and school board work. Henderson said he and his wife will move to a home they have maintained on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
