Last month, Bob Chase, Iola, earned a special honor from his hometown in Connecticut.
On Nov. 18, Chase received a second induction into the Suffield High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
The first came several years ago when the 1959-60 Suffield High School boys basketball team, which won the Connecticut State Championship that year, were inducted.
The next year, the school’s soccer team, for which Chase was co-captain and a midfielder, won a state championship.
According to the Suffield County Observer, Chase’s team was the first in school history to finish the season undefeated while setting a record in wins (17), goals scored (17) and goals allowed (5).
In 1958, Chase also won a state championship for his recreation league baseball team. He was the starting pitcher.
