BURLINGTON — Picking up track meets where they can are Crest High’s Lancers and Lady Lancers. Case in point was Tuesday’s Burlington High Invitational.
“We were not originally scheduled for this meet but we’ve had two meets rained out so we entered the athletes who didn’t have conflicts,” said Tisha Hug, Crest track coach.
Kurston Gilliland earned three medals in the girls’ throwing events. She took second in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 91⁄2 inches and was third in the javelin at 104’2”. Gilliland had a personal-best throw of 99’ 1⁄2” for sixth in the discus.
Shayla Stephens claimed the silver medal in the javelin with a throw of 106’11”. Katrina Strickler jumped 14’5”, a personal best, for sixth in the long jump. She suffered an injury which kept her out of the triple jump, Hug said.
For the Crest boys, Jordan Morton placed fifth in the javelin with a distance of 134’10” with teammate Dakota Ramsey in sixth at 134’3”. Ramsey took fifth in the discus at 120’2”.
