CHERRYVALE — Having been routed by the Cubs in a makeup game only a week and a half earlier, the Cherryvale Chargers bit into another knuckle sandwich Tuesday night. Led by the sisters McCall, Humboldt walloped Cherryvale 77-50 in the Cubs’ final regular season game of the year.
The win catapults the Cubs to 18-2 on the season  and guarantees them a home bid during the first round of the substate tournament next week.
“That’s how you want to finish the regular season,” said Humboldt head coach Aubrey Jones, who is not one to waste praise. “We had four kids [who scored] in double digits, which shows good ball distribution and makes [us] difficult to guard.”
Senior Makaylah McCall led all scorers with 19 points. Sophomore Aricah McCall followed with 16.
Cherryvale’s freshman star Ally Poole led her team in scoring with 14 points, including a couple of quick three-pointers in the first quarter.
Humboldt’s Annalise Whitcomb notched 12 points and nine rebounds. Fellow senior Tilar Wells added 10 points.

BOYS
