LEON — The Humboldt Cubs and Lady Cubs now turn their attention to hosting the regional meet next week after taking fourth and fifth respectively at Friday’s Tri-Valley League Championship.
Lifted my multiple first-place finishes Thursday, the Cubs hope to parlay their momentum while benefitting from a bit of home field advantage as they make their bids for state next Thursday at the regional meet.
Humboldt made much of the difference on the team leader boards with several medals in field events. Junior Thatcher Mueller took first in the triple jump with a 40′ 9.5″ leap. Senior Carson Peters took first in the discus with a 151′ 5″ throw. Junior Jean Yumba took first in the shot put with a 35′ 6.5″ throw.
