Iola High School runners dominated Tuesday’s Eureka Invitational with multiple top ten finishers.
Junior runner Keegan Hill posted his first gold medal of 2025 after beating the closest competitor by 39 seconds with a winning time of 17:21. Senior Mahailie Genoble continued climbing the leaderboards with a fourth-place finish.
Senior Brennen Coffield cleared the course in 19:07 and medaled with an eighth-place finish. He was followed by Joshua Wanker, who took 11th-place in 19:48 for the final sub-20 finish.
The Mustangs had a trio of pack runners also earning points with junior James Hunt, senior Isaac Velazquez and junior Caden Coltrane finishing 14th, 15th and 16th respectively. Hunt cleared the course in 20:01, only milliseconds ahead of Velasquez and two seconds ahead of Coltrane’s 20:03 run. Junior Ruger Boren was also just steps away, medaling for 19th place in 20:58.
For the girls, Genoble was Iola’s only varsity competitor. In junior varsity action, junior Keshia Smith finished seventh in 28:15, followed by senior Ari Ramirez in 10th in 29:33. Sophomore Sydney Ebberts cleared the course in 34:12 for 13th place.
In boy’s junior varsity, freshman Konner Morrison took first after besting second place teammate freshman Adam Klubek with a 20:22 finish to Klubek’s 20:51. Sophomore Raiden Stowell took sixth in 21:32, followed by senior Jakolby Hill with seventh in 21:51. Senior Harley Blankenship took eighth in 22:23, followed by junior Kaden Vega in ninth in 22:24. Junior Adriel Pina wrapped up the top 20 finishers with 13th place in 23:35.
