Hot off taking second place at the Pioneer League meet Thursday, Iola High School junior Brennen Coffield added another silver medal to his collection after taking second at the Chanute Invitational.

Coffield tied Pittsburg senior MJ Lowe for second while carding a 78 at the par 71 Stone Creek Golf Course in Chanute.

After shooting a 39 on the front nine holes, Coffield matched his opening round mark on the back nine with another 39. Coffield was five strokes behind his 73 total from the 2024 Chanute Invitational, but with Iola a little more than halfway through its season and the regional tournament weeks away, he has plenty of time to improve.

The Mustangs finished sixth as a team. Also adding to the team effort was freshman Isaiah Geisler who tied for 21st place after carding a 96. He shot a 51 on the front nine, then shaved six strokes off his opening round score to finish the back nine by shooting a 45.

Senior Ethan Harris and sophomore Ean De La Torre tied for 33rd as both carded a 105.

Harris shot a 52 on the front nine, then dropped a stroke back on the back nine while shooting a 53.

De La Torre opened strong, shooting a 50 on the front nine, but finished weaker on the back nine by shooting a 55.
