Iola Mustangs win big in Chanute

Iola High School track and field coaches may be looking forward to seeing what the middle school athletes can do on a bigger stage next season after the Mustangs won multiple medals at Monday's Royster Middle School Rocket Invitational.

CHANUTE — The Iola Middle School Mustangs brought home plenty of hardware while competing in Tuesday’s Royster Middle School Rocket Invitational Monday.

The eighth-grade Mustangs took the title over host Chanute by more than 20 points while the seventh-grade Mustangs finished second to Pittsburg. 

Iola’s eighth grade girls came in fifth place.
