Iola’s JV track shines in Fort Scott

FORT SCOTT — Iola’s junior varsity track team competed at Fort Scott on Tuesday. Several athletes improved on the track.
For the boys, Ethan Holloway beat his personal record in the high jump and leaped five feet, six inches for second place. Travis Hermstein improved his time in the 800-meter run by eight seconds. He took fifth in the event. He placed third in the pole vault, clearing 9’0”.
Kenyon Beasley had a personal best in the discus, tossing it 87’2”. He threw the javelin 112’8” for third place.
Chase Regehr ran the 400m run in 56.79 seconds for third place, also his personal best.
Darius Greenawald has consecutively improved his triple jump distance in every meet so far. At Fort Scott he jumped a distance of 37’7” for third place.
Brice Aiello, a novice in the triple jump, cleared 35’ for fifth place. He also did the long jump, leaping 17’10” for fourth place.
In the 4x800m relay, the team placed third in 9:58. The team is made up of Regehr, Hermstein, Holloway and Greenawald.
For the girls, Jo Lohman ran in her first-ever 3200m race. She ended up in fourth place. Madison Carlin jumped 4’2” in the high jump for a personal best for sixth place.
Carly Cescon had a personal best in the pole vault, 6’6” for fourth place, and ran on three relay teams which placed.
The 4x800m team of Lohman, Cescon, Madison Carlin and Erin Klubek placed second in 12:16. The 4x400m team of Cescon, Carlin, Klubek and Addie Prather placed fourth in 5:16.
The 4x100m team took second in 1:00.6
The varsity team travels to Osawatomie today.
