NEODESHA — A halftime deficit didn’t matter much to Humboldt High’s girls Tuesday evening.
“We were down, but the girls just decided they were going to take the win, and they worked their tails off to do so,” Lady Cub head coach Sherri Nelson said.
A balanced scoring attack paced Humboldt in a 60-51 victory.
Four Lady Cub players scored at least nine points in the win.
Leading the way was Tilar Wells with 14 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Kayle Riebel followed with 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Lakota Wilson also reached double figures with 13 points, seven boards and four steals. Megan Hodlin notched nine points and five steals. Madison Keller had three points and two steals. Delaney Umholtz, Makaylah McCall, Anna Whitcomb and Morgan Morris all had two points. McCall added two steals and Whitcomb five rebounds.
Humboldt resumes play Thursday with a makeup game at Erie. The Lady Cubs host Fredonia on Friday.
