The Humboldt Middle School boys and girls teams traveled to Fredonia on Monday and walked away with just one win out of five games played.

That win came courtesy of the girls A-Team who beat Fredonia 29-12.

Carsyn Haviland had 10 points and five steals, Karley Wools had six points and Emily Ross had six rebounds.

“The ladies did a great job of bouncing back from our last two games,” head coach Jason Weilert said. “For the second game in a row, I felt like we played very well defensively. The difference tonight was we took care of the ball and did a better job of getting to the basket. The girls were more aggressive on the offensive end which led to more shots under the basket.”

The B-Team lost 33-5.

Morgan Hunter had two points and five rebounds and Elizabeth White had two points.

The C-Team lost 30-19.

Assya Goforth had 11 points and Ashlynn Works had seven points.

Meanwhile, the Humboldt boys A-Team lost 49-39.

“Fredonia is a very good team,” head coach Jeremy Weilert said. “We dug ourselves a hole we couldn’t get out of but we played hard to the end.”

Trey Sommer had 12 points and seven rebounds and Maddox Johnson had 10 points and six rebounds.

Aiden Gean had six points, Trayce Slocum had four points, Dakota Slocum had three points and Brennen Nuessen and River Kaufman each had two points.

The B-Team lost 40-20.

Sam Hull had 12 points and seven rebounds, Caden Vink had four points and four steals, Ladon Bauer had two points and Garren Goodner had two points and six rebounds.

Both teams will have the next couple of weeks off for winter break before returning to the basketball court on Jan. 3 versus Neodesha.
