Hot off a pair of top 10 finishes at their respective state tournaments, Humboldt sophomore Connor Newman and Iola senior Brennen Coffield earned spots on the KSHSAA All-State Golf Team.
Newman earned 2A All-State First Team honors. Newman dominated the 2A field, coming in first at the state tournament at Winfield’s Quail Ridge Golf Course, and besting his nearest competitor by five strokes. He is Humboldt High School’s first individual to win a state golf championship.

Newman won first place in all but three tournaments this season, including a regional title.
While playing on the links of the Allen County Country Club, Coffield bested Newman in the Humboldt Invitational. Coffield was an KSHSAA 3A All-State Second Team selection following his fourth state tournament
appearance.
Coffield finished seventh at the state tournament in Topeka. Coffield won one gold medal, three silver medals and one third place medal this year, which followed his sixth-place state finish in 2025. Coffield finishes his IHS career as one of the program’s most decorated players.
