Iola Middle School’s golf team wrapped up the season with a dual meet with Chanute’s Royster Middle School Wednesday at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Nine golfers from Iola competed and five finished in the top 10 in a field of 21 golfers.
Colby Works was second with a 47, a stroke behind Skyler Gericke (46) of Chanute. Iola’s Josh Elder was fourth with a 49.
Mason Key and Taylor Sell each carded 54s and finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Quentin Sams shot a 58 for 10th.
Also playing for IMS were Bryan Gentry and Zach St. Clair, both with 65s, Colten Storrer with a 66 and Bobbi Sinclair with a 67.
“For most of the IMS golfers this was only their second time competing in a tournament. They played well,” said Stacey Crusinbery, IMS golf coach.
“I’ve been very impressed with their hard work and the positive attitudes they kept while knowing they wouldn’t be able to play in many tournaments this season.”
