Wellsville takes two of three from Iola

WELLSVILLE — The Iola Middle School Mustangs took a pair of losses on the road at Wellsville Monday. 

The evening looked promising early on as the junior varsity Mustangs won the opener 20-10, but the seventh and eighth-graders fell in the subsequent two contests 32-29 and 25-10. 

According to a post by Scott Brady, IMS athletic director, Maicy Kimball and Anna Klubek tied for the team lead in scoring in the junior varsity contest with 6 points. The win improves them to 8-3 overall. 

The seventh-grade team fell 32-29 but will play for a share of the Pioneer League title Wednesday when they return to the hardwood in the regular season finale against Burlington. Statistics from the seventh-grade game were not available at press time. 

The IMS eighth graders fell 25-10 in the finale. 

Cora Boren and Nebula Burrow tied for the team lead in scoring with 4 points each.
