Michelle Lea Hanson, 45, Iola, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Windsor Place in Iola.
Michelle was born Jan. 15, 1969, in Iola, the daughter of Howard and Marcelene “Mickey” (Berglund) Hanson. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1987.
Michelle and Jason Cannon were married and later divorced. She was a certified medication aide and certified nursing aide and worked in local long-term care facilities.
She was baptized at Iola Baptist Temple as a child and was currently a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Iola.
She is survived by two children, Corey Edward Walls and Anna Michelle Walls, both of Iola; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Matthew, Ezekiel and Malachi; her mother, Mickey Kinzle, Iola; her stepmother, Velma Kissinger, Ottawa; six siblings, Phillip Hanson, Fort Scott, Teresa Hanson, Iola, Kelly Morrison and husband, James, Emporia, Angela Harrison, Le Roy, Mark Hanson and wife, Tyra, Emporia, and Howard Hanson Jr., LaHarpe.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard L. Hanson Sr.; stepfather, Floyd N. Kinzle; aunt, Barbara Tibbs; and grandparents, Anna and Henry Hanson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene in Iola. Burial will follow at LaHarpe Cemetery.
Memorial gifts to the Michelle Hanson Memorial Fund may be left with Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
