Local recipients of this year’s Built Ford Tough FFA Scholarship Program will be donning purple in the fall. Twin Motors Ford owner Tim Henry, center, presented $1,000 scholarships Tuesday to Iola High School’s Isaiah Wicoff, left, Humboldt High School’s Hunter Nickell and Marmaton Valley High School’s Emily Smart (not pictured). All three students plan to attend Kansas State University starting in the fall. Smart plans to study food science; Nickell plans to attend veterinary school; and Wicoff will study engineering. Twin Motors gave out three such scholarships this year because Allen County has the three school districts, Henry noted. Ford Motor Company is providing $496,000 this year in scholarships nationwide. The recipients were chosen from 8,825 applicants. REGISTER/RICHARD LUKEN
