As autumn progresses and vibrantly colored foliage becomes Mother Nature’s litter, Iola city crews will assist with cleanup by offering leaf pickup on Monday.
All leaves must be bagged and placed curbside by 8 a.m. Monday.
No alley pickup will be provided and crews will not pick up limbs or other debris. City workers will make only one pass through town.
Crews will not pick up loose leaves or those in containers other than bags.
No call-in is necessary.
City Administrator Judy Brigham said a second leaf pickup will be planned later in the fall.
The leaves will be taken to be composted and used as mulch at Elm Creek Community Garden along South First Street.
Those who wish to bring their own leaves, loose or bagged, to the garden may do so at any time.
