COLONY — Crest patrons were given their first look Wednesday at the nearly finished $6 million renovation to the school building, including the addition of new classrooms, other renovated areas and a new fully accessible and secured entryway.

The occasion was USD 479’s annual open house, where students and their parents can meet teachers and learn about other programs and offerings in the Colony area via informational booths set up in the main gymnasium.

This year’s open house gave the added benefit of checking out the new digs.

Crest High School Principal Travis Hermreck said workers were installing furniture and equipment in the new office area Thursday.

The entrance, which will enhance safety as well as aesthetics, should be finished by September, with the final item — construction of a new auxiliary gymnasium — slated for completion by late October.

Crest classes resume Friday.
