The Allen County Historical Society will discuss the legacy of Iola’s Ward Chapel AME Church Saturday.
The 2 p.m. program, held at the Funston Meeting Hall at 207 N. Jefferson Ave., will feature guest speakers Iolans Spencer and Helen Ambler and Gena Clounch, all of whom will share their memories and stories, as well as the enduring impact of one of Allen County’s most significant historic congregations.
Founded in 1873, Ward Chapel served the Iola community for more than 150 years before closing its doors in 2025.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided as well.
The public is invited.
