The memory of a local animal lover is now providing support to a cause that was close to his heart. The Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) has received its first grant from the Raymond C. McIntosh Memorial Endowment Fund — a legacy that began four years ago with a tragic loss.
Raymond C. McIntosh, a devoted supporter of ACARF, passed away in a car accident on April 10, 2021. Known for his compassion for animals, McIntosh had frequently visited the shelter and made clear his desire to support its mission beyond his lifetime.
Shortly after his passing, his brother Gary McIntosh took steps to ensure that Raymond’s wishes would be carried out.
In July 2021, he partnered with Your Community Foundation (YCF) to establish the Raymond C. McIntosh Memorial Endowment Fund.
Built from a combination of Raymond’s estate, contributions from Gary, and donations from the wider community, the fund has steadily grown — fueled in part by YCF’s annual Match Month campaign.
Over the four years, the McIntosh Fund has grown to $106,741.
“We’re truly honored to carry on Raymond’s legacy and grateful to the McIntosh family for entrusting us with this responsibility,” said Elaina Stiffler, Executive Director of YCF. “Endowment funds like these aren’t just about honoring loved ones. They’re about creating lasting support for causes that are making a real difference in our community.”
The grant from the McIntosh Fund will go toward covering vital operational costs and medical care for animals in need at ACARF.
Designated funds like the McIntosh Endowment play a key role in YCF’s mission. They offer stable, long-term support to specific nonprofit organizations while giving donors a structured way to make an enduring impact. Since its founding in 2012, YCF has grown to manage over $2 million in charitable assets.
Gary McIntosh, who remains active with both ACARF and YCF, also serves as an advisor to the foundation’s board.
