Dirt work on Allen County Airport’s extended taxiway is largely complete, Airport Manager Robert Poydack said Thursday.

Soggy conditions have suspended work until Monday, but Poydack said crews with Smoky Hills Construction of Salina will be back on site Monday.

Work is proceeding ahead of schedule, Poydack said. When the project is complete, the taxiway will run parallel to the very south end of the runway. It’s an FAA-preferred design that improves airport safety and efficiency, allowing planes to get off the runway quicker.

The project is funded thanks…
