TEL AVIV, Israel — Multiple people have been killed in the Gaza Strip following attacks by the Israeli military, Palestinian media reported on Tuesday.

At least 16 Palestinians were reported dead and dozens more injured after tents sheltering displaced people were hit in the Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. The Palestinian news agency WAFA said children were among the victims. The information could not be independently verified. The Israeli military did not immediately comment when asked about the reports.

Footage circulating on Palestinian media and social platforms purportedly shows rescue workers pulling victims from the tent camp during the night. Injured children are also visible in the video, though the authenticity of the footage could not be independently confirmed.

WAFA, citing medical sources in Gaza, further reported that Israeli forces killed seven people and injured several others as they sought humanitarian aid near the so-called Netzarim Corridor in the central part of the strip. Details on how and where the victims were killed were not initially available. A distribution center run by the United States and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is located in the area. Israel’s military did not immediately respond to the report, and the GHF has not yet issued a statement.

WAFA also reported additional Israeli strikes in other parts of Gaza, some of which were said to be deadly. Separately, the Israeli military said one of its soldiers was killed in southern Gaza on Monday.

Twenty-eight countries condemned Israel for the “inhumane killing” of civilians in Gaza.

“The war in Gaza must end now,” the joint statement issued on Monday said. “The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths. The Israeli government’s aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity.”
