Charlotte J. Bunnel, 81, Welda, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

She was born Jan. 6, 1931 in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Roy D. and Frieda (Naizer) Crawford.

She grew up in Iola, graduating from Iola High School in 1949. On April 24, 1952, she married Alfred Bunnel Iola.

They had five sons. The Bunnels lived in Humboldt until 1958, when they moved to their dairy farm south of Welda. Charlotte worked on the farm with her husband and sons. She was active in 4-H when her children were young, serving as a club and project leader. She was also in the Mulberry E.H.U., was an excellent cook and enjoyed old country and old country gospel music, but her greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on June 2, 2003, an infant son, Donnie; two brothers, Stanley Crawford and Roy Crawford Jr.; and a sister, Glee Parks.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Bunnel, Randy and his wife, Betsy, and Russell and his wife, Margie, all of Welda, and Tom, Ottawa; her grandchildren, Joshua Bunnel and fiancé Stefania Harris, Kelli Bunnel, Jennifer Morrow, Eric Bunnel and his wife, Kristin, and Dena Bunnel; and two great-grandchildren, Taryn and Brynleigh Morrow.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. 

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County 4-H Scholarship Fund or to Special Olympics Kansas, and may be left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, P.O. Box 408, Garnett, KS 66032.
