Arthur Lonnie Jaro Jr., 68, Humboldt, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 in Chanute. Lonnie was born on July 27, 1948, in Stark, to Arthur Jaro Sr. and Selma (Stevens) Jaro.

On Oct. 15, 1967, Lonnie married Teresa Crump in Lowry City, Mo. She survives. 

Lonnie worked with CWA in Kansas City before moving to Humboldt with his wife in 1974. He spent 21 years working for Gates Corporation as a rubber extruder before retiring from Zachry Construction in 2010 where he worked as a millwright. 

Lonnie served his country in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 and was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star for his service. During his free time, Lonnie enjoyed some hunting and a lot of fishing, even holding the state record for spoonbill.

He also is survived by his children, Renee Wade and husband Sean, Indianapolis, Ind., Craig Jaro and wife Cindy, Humboldt, Julie Jaro, Springfield, Mo., Leighton Jaro, Iola, and Chase Jaro, of the home; a brother, Ray Jaro; sisters, Mary Baker, Joyce Brooks and Kay Bach; one half-brother, one half-sister, two stepbrothers, one stepsister, six grandchidlren and one great-grandchild.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents and a step brother.

 

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Countryside Funeral Home in Humboldt. Online condolences may be left at  www.countrysidefh.com. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home 908 Central, Humboldt, KS 66720.
