Patrick Hicks, 63, passed away in Kansas City, Kan., the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, with his beloved wife, Mickey, by his side.

Arthur Patrick Hicks was born in Iola, to Arthur and Dorothy Hicks in 1955. He graduated Marmaton Valley High School in 1973. Patrick began his 35 year career with the U.S. Postal Service soon after, beginning as a clerk carrier.  Through his staunch work ethic, his career advanced as Officer in Charge in Sublette, and onto Postmaster in Moran He served as Postmaster in Iola, until his retirement in 2008.

Patrick was a longtime member of the Shriners and was president of the “Little Wheels” program. He also served as president of the NAPUS Kansas chapter from 1992 to 1994 and continued on to serve as Executive Vice President of NAPUS.

Patrick had a love of the land. His home in Iola was his dream property of house, yard, pool, pasture and woods. His ideal day was to mow the lawn, drive a four-wheeler through the woods, ride the open road on his Harley Davidson, watch the sun set in the sun room, have a moonlight swim with his wife and end the day in his man cave working on computers.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Mickey Hicks, son Gregory Arnold and son-in-law Chris Arnold, son Lance Roberts, daughter-in-law Alisha Roberts and grandchildren Shad and Lacey Roberts, daughter Sarah Gonzalez, son-in-law Nick Gonzalez and grandchildren Layne and Kaitlyn Gonzalez, sister Helen Brand and brother-in-law Charlie Brand, sister Sue Riley and brother-in-law Steve Riley, among many other beloved extended family members.

There will be a celebration of Patrick’s life on March 17 — St. Patrick’s Day — 2019. An announcement will be made in early 2019 once arrangements are made.

Rest in peace, dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

You will be in our hearts and a part of our lives forever.
