Robert Eugene Sherrill, 85, Iola, passed away at his daughter’s home in Blue Springs, Mo., on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Bob was born Dec. 22, 1927, and was a lifelong resident of Iola. He was preceded in death by Sally Ann Sherrill, his wife of 52 years, and his youngest daughter, Denise Ann Sherrill.
Bob was the son of Ralph and Bertha Sherrill, also lifelong residents of Iola. He graduated from Iola High School and attended ACCJC before joining the military.
He is survived by three daughters, Susie and her husband, Jim Shearer, Blue Springs, Mo., Jeanie and her husband, Mike Stultz, Lawrence, and Barbara Lucile Sherrill, Iola; and two brothers, David Sherrill, Iola, and Dr. Dee Sherrill and wife, Beth, Estes Park, Colo.
Brother-in-law Brad Kidd and wife Salley Jo, Winfield, and sister-in-law Irma Kidd, Wichita, also survive.
Additional family members who survive are four grandchildren, Dr. Joy Furman and her husband, Dr. Matt Furman,Pueblo West, Colo., Galen J. Morrison, Overland Park, Sherrill Ann Scott and her husband Brandon, Olathe, and Stacey Dawn Howell and her husband Dr. Matt Howell, Andover; three step-grandsons, James and his wife Kristi, John Shearer, Louisville, Ken., and Jason and his wife Terri Shearer, Blue Springs, Mo.
Bob is also survived by great-grandchildren Blake, Preston and Greyson Furman, Ashley and Jimmy Shearer, Ellie, Rowen and Remy Jane Howell, McKenzie Leeann Scott, and Jessica and Jonny Shearer.
Numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Bob owned his own milk route and hauled milk for the Pet Milk Company. He farmed west of town and raised polled Hereford cattle. He drove trucks for LeHigh and Ruan Cement Company. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan, 1945-1947. He was a VFW member and was a Methodist by faith.

Graveside services will at 1 p.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery in Iola. A fellowship and remembrance service will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iola.
