Funeral services for Lillie Byars Hogue, 98, formerly of Moulton, Ala., and mother of Iolan Betty Miller, were Friday at First United Methodist Church, Moulton, with the Rev. Larry Wright officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Shoemaker Cemetery, Moulton.
Mrs. Hogue, who died March 3, 2014, at Mt. Royal Towers in Birmingham, Ala., was born May 14, 1915, in Lawrence County to Robert M. and Lillie Mae Vaughan Byars. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.G. Hogue; her son, Robert M. Hogue; and her parents, Robert M. and Lillie Vaughan Byars.
She is survived by her children, Betty Miller (Ed), Iola, Linda Stewart (Joe), Birmingham, and Gil Hogue (Sheila), Cullman, Ala. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jay Miller (Karen), Beth Wall (John), Nancy Miller, Bob Miller (Heidi), Grier Stewart (Janice), Rob Stewart (Tonja), Jim Stewart (Virginia), Blane Hogue, Matt Hogue (Amy) and Marshall Hogue (Lisa); and 24 great- grandchildren, Drew (Laura), Alisa, Bryan, William, Jonathan, Daniel, Vaughn, Ella, Maeve, Will, Cole, Byars, Frances, Rebecca, Vann, Michael, Samantha, Lillie, Ellie, Kaleb, Jacob, Andrew, Bo and Amelia.
Lillie graduated from Lawrence County High School and attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
She lived most of her life in Moulton and will be remembered as a sweet lady with a servant’s heart who gave untiringly to her church and community.
