OTTAWA — Trailing 6-2, Allen County Community College’s Red Devils decided to score six runs to take the lead in Wednesday’s non-conference baseball game.
The Red Devils produced six runs in the top of the third to go up 8-6 over host Ottawa University’s junior varsity. Allen County added four more in the fourth on its way to a 15-9 win.
Allen County had three runs across when Eric Seymour hit the first pitch he saw in the third inning over the left field fence. It was a three-run home run.
Nick Fountain connected for his team-leading ninth home run, a two-run shot, in the first inning. The Red Devils had 20 hits in the nine-inning contest.
Riley Price had three singles while Brad Alberts hit two singles and a double. Seymour also had a double and Fountain hit a single in the game.
Kaleb Hoffman connected for a single and a double. Bryce Williams tripled.
Garret Hess, Kyle Johnston and Curtiss Bunch each had a double. Nathan Russell, Michael Schell, Jordan Anderson and Brayden Brumley had a single each.
Allen County used five pitchers, starting with Tanner Wittman. Zak Mickens got the win. Patrick Garner, Alberts and Brandon Spear got at least an inning of work apiece.
Allen County gave up 10 hits and issued 11 walks.
The Red Devils are 13-23 overall. They get ready for a home weekend series with Independence.
