HUMBOLDT — Catch-as-catch-can.
Humboldt Speedway was put in that mode a few weeks ago with wet weather. So Friday was the second make-up feature from that night.
It just so happened it was in Johnny Bone Jr.’s division — the modifieds. Bone got out quick in the first feature race, which was the make-up one.
Bone won the race as mechanical problems elminated Jesse Folk Jr. and John Allen from contention. Scott Daniels won the battle with Paden Phillips for second. Ryan Whitworth ran fourth and Jon Sheets was fifth.
Later in the evening, Friday’s regular modified feature was contested. Bone won his heat race, securing the inside pole position and a wire-to-wire victory.
Allen got his car fixed and claimed second place in this feature. Daniels was third followed by Phillips and Paul Snyder to round out the top five.
First-year driver Levi Phillips started 13 cars deep in the pure stock feature field of 19 cars Friday night. It didn’t bother him as he drove to victory.
Brandon Rowland placed second in the pure stocks. Stetson Deets crossed the line in third place with Laura Ramey in fourth and Blake Kisner in fifth.
Jeremy Wilson is establishing himself as the early points champion favorite in the factory stock division at Humboldt. Wilson has won four of the six features this season, including Friday night’s.
Tim Phillips pushed to the end and finished second. Derreck Wilson ran third, followed by Brandon Weide and Ed Muller.
Jay Lamons Jr. put his earlier season hard luck behind him as well as the rest of the B-Mod feature field. Lamons won in commanding fashion. Dalton Kirk drove through the field and claimed the runner-up spot. Tim VanGotten placed third, Jimmie Davis took fourth and Jeremy Chambers was fifth.
