Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the 31st Judicial District host their annual Father’s Day Charity Golf Tournament Saturday at the Allen County Country Club.

The event is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for a program that serves abused and neglected children in Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties.

It’s the 20th year CASA has done the fundraiser, but the first year Green Cover has helped sponsor the event. For sales representative Zach Louk, becoming a sponsor was an easy decision to make. “We like to support the community in the best ways possible,” he said. “This is one of those efforts.”

Shawn Schlotterbeck, a Farmers Insurance agent based in Chanute, has also come on as a sponsor this year. “It’s important for us to take care of kids who need our support. It’s a great investment. Kids are our future.”

State Street Liquor’s Brian Crooks felt similarly. “This event is all about helping kids. People who have the ability to help, it’s up to us to step up and do so.”

Teams will participate in a shotgun tee-off at the Allen County Country Club at 9 a.m.

Registration begins at 7:30 for the four-person scramble. Lunch, cash prizes, and raffles are provided.

This year’s sponsors include:

Underwriters: The Porter family, Community National Bank & Trust

Platinum: Hofer & Hofer, Manbeck Law, Southern Star, and Machine Tool Specialties

Gold: Ash Grove Cement, B&W Trailer Hitches, Ken & Bobbie Gilpin, Green Cover, Monarch Cement, Nelson Quarries, State Street Liquor, Twin Motors Ford, and the Wyoming Daniels Clan.
