CHERRYVALE On the strength of seven individual championships, Humboldt High finished second in boys and girls divisions in the annual Tri-Valley League powerlifting championships here Saturday.
Winning titles on the boys side, determined by total weight lifted in bench, squat and clean positions, were Ryan Sellman, Dawson Lohman, Isiah Coronado, Tucker Hurst and David Watts. Hurst and Watts won each of their three events. For the girls, sophomore Madison Riebel won all three of her lifts and junior Alayna Johnson won two and took second in another, to claim individual crowns.
In the 148-pound category, Coronado, a junior, hoisted 395 pounds in the squat to break the league record of 345 set in 2014. He and Dexter Queen, Cherryvale, hold the record in the 140-pound category at 335.
