OSAWATOMIE — Maggie Wilson was flying high, setting a new meet pole vault record at the same time as Kelsey Larson was streaming around the track to win the 400-meter dash.

Wilson and Larson helped lead Iola High’s Fillies to a team championship on Thursday at the  Osawatomie High Francis Wendt Invitational.  The Fillies piled up 124.5 points for first place with Spring Hill in second at 104.

Wilson, who had already taken the gold medal in the 100-meter dash in 12.9 seconds, returned to the girls’ pole vault event as the top contender. She was the only competitor to vault over 10 feet Thursday.

Wilson increased the meet record by a foot, topping the  record (10 feet, 6 inches) she set last year. Wilson cleared 11’6” to equal her IHS record, Wilson attempted to push the school mark to 11’9” but missed on three vaults.
