Golfers out to support CASA will get a special treat this Saturday. The tournament is the very first to be held on the revamped course at Allen County Country Club, as last Saturday’s grand opening tournament was postponed due to rainy weather.

The organization kicks off its 19th annual Father’s Day charity golf tournament Saturday with a 9 a.m. tee time.

All proceeds will benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates program, which trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the Kansas courts system. The event is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers of the year.

“We have 19 teams signed up, and we can take one more,” said CASA director Aimee Daniels. “It’s shaping up to be a really fun day.”

Tee time is at 9 a.m. with a four-man scramble format. Flights will be organized by skill level, ensuring those who just want to enjoy the day aren’t mixed in with a pro. Prizes, gifts and games are planned along the way, ensuring fun for all no matter the handicap.

“This is a great event for a great cause,” said Mike Byers, plant manager for Monarch Cement. “You can tell the passion the CASA team has for helping kids. It’s going to be a fun day, and we’re glad to be a part of it.”

Sharla Miller of Farm Bureau Financial Services feels similarly. “I really believe in the CASA program,” she said. “They do amazing work and I’m proud to be a sponsor.”

Mike Waldman of Community National Bank & Trust will be on the links as well.

“This tournament is a great way to help kids who through no fault of their own find themselves in terrible circumstances. CASA helps kids just be kids, and helps them deal with a lot of stress. We’re proud to support their work.”

Susan and Logan Booth of McIntosh Booth Insurance saw the golf tournament as an opportunity to give back. “The most vulnerable among us deserve the most protection,” said Susan.

The event is underwritten by the Porter Family and has several levels of sponsors. McIntosh Booth Insurance, Community National Bank & Trust, and Southern Star are platinum sponsors.

Gold sponsors include Manbeck Law, Farm Bureau Financial Services-Sharla Miller, Nelson Quarries, H&H Roofing & Restoration, State Street Liquor, Ash Grove, Twin Motors Ford, the Monarch Cement Company, and the Wyoming Daniels Clan.
