Humboldt’s volleyball team split on Tuesday at Neodesha. They fell 0-2 to the host Lady Bluestreaks but beat Caney Valley in straight sets.
Sydney Houk and Aricah McCall led the way offensively with six kills each in Humboldt’s 2-0 win over Caney Valley (25-17, 25-21).
Houk also led the team with four aces while McCall had a team-high eight digs.
The Lady Cubs then fell 2-0 to Neodesha in two close sets (22-25, 24-26).
“Tonight we did not play as a team at all,” head coach Terry Meadows said. “We had many chances to win against Neodesha but we could not pull it out.  When you have as many hitting errors as we did you can’t win. We had the lead late in each set, but could not do enough to get the win.”
Humboldt had 22 errors opposed to just 15 kills.
Houk had a team-high four kills and Alayna Johnson and McCall had a team-high two aces.
The Lady Cubs will host Eureka and Cherryvale next Tuesday.
