The Iola JV girls tennis participated in a six-team tournament hosted by Labette County High in Altamont.
Teams included the Fillies, Labette County white, Labette County red, Fort Scott, Pittsburg, and Neodesha.
Sidney Shelby finished third in her singles performance, going 2-1 beating Labette County red and Neodesha, and losing to Pittsburg.
Jessica Tidd and Miah Shelby teamed up for a 2-1 doubles outing, and third-place finish. The pair was triumphant over Fort Scott and Pittsburg, but was unable to showcase success against the tournament hosts, Labette County red.
Head coach Chris Belknap gave Genevive Ward her first opportunity in the Iola blue and gold. Ward teamed up with Mayte Breithaupt, but the pair went winless for a sixth-placed finish.
Although the JV Fillies were unable to finish in the top two, Belknap expressed satisfaction with the JV squad for handling the pressure of game day with ease. This was only the second time the JV squad has competed this season.
