Humboldt volleyball wrapped up their regular season on Tuesday with mixed results.
The Lady Cubs hosted Fredonia and Leon-Bluestem and went 1-1, breezing past the Hornets in two-sets before falling in a three-set heartbreaker to the Lady Lions.
With the win, Bluestem clinched a share of the Tri-Valley League crown. Humboldt heads into the postseason with a 22-12 overall record and a 4-3 league record.
Versus Bluestem, Humboldt jumped out strong with a 25-20 set one win before allowing a big 25-16 letdown loss in set two.
Set three was neck-and-neck down the stretch but the Lady Lions slipped away at the end, winning the set 25-23.
Senior Aricah McCall, one of six Humboldt seniors playing in their final home match, had nine kills and two aces to go along with a team-high four blocks.
Madison Gean had six kills and Jada Dangerfield and Kaylie Johnson each had four kills. Alayna Johnson had 28 assists and Kaylie Johnson also led the team with seven digs.
They rebounded strongly versus Fredonia, blowing past them in a 25-6 and 25-10 sweep.
McCall had seven kills and Kaylie Johnson had six.
Morgan Mauk had six aces and Alayna Johnson and Gean had four aces. Gean also had seven digs and Alayna Johnson had 20 assists.
The junior varsity Lady Cubs swept both Fredonia and Leon-Bluestem and the Lady Cubs C-Team earned a one-set win over Bluestem.
In addition to McCall, Kaylie Johnson, Morgan Mauk, Camrie Farran, Savanna Puckett and Roni Bulk played their final home volleyball game in a Humboldt jersey.
The Lady Cubs will now head to Uniontown on Friday where they are the three seed in the 2A Sub-State tournament there.
They will face six-seed Uniontown in the opening match. A win versus the Eagles most likely pits them versus 27-12 two seed Oswego in the semifinals.
