McGhee, Lawson and Granere shine at eight-man all-star game

A trio of area football players celebrated one last game on the gridiron before moving on to college during Saturday's eight-man all-star game in Beloit.

Coaches and players from Crest High School and Marmaton Valley High School came out on the winning side of Saturday’s eight-man all-star game after the East Team defeated the West Team, 58-0, in Beloit.

Crest senior receiver back Gentry McGhee, as well as Marmaton Valley seniors Brayden Lawson and Jaedon Granere wrapped up their high school football careers in fine fashion after making multiple standout plays in their final eight-man football contest.

Coached by Marmaton Valley coach Max Mickunas, who served as head coach, and Crest coach Nick McAnulty, who served as an assistant, the East Team manhandled the West with a record eight passing touchdowns with a pair landing in Granere’s hands while more than a few timely Lawson tackles kept the West off the scoreboard. McGhee was also a part of the action on both sides.
