HOBBS, N.M. — Future Texas Tech sprinter RaNayla Moten ended her final run with the Allen Red Devils in grand fashion after taking first place in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash during individual titles at Saturday’s NJCAA Track an Field Championships.
Moten shaved two-tenths of a second off her 100-meter dash time in the prelims to take the national title in a blistering 10.94 seconds, followed closely by fellow Allen sophomore Grace Nwokocha (11.18) for third place.
In the 200 meters, Moten shaved three-tenths of a second off her prelim time to take first in 22.21 seconds, followed by Nwokocha (22.91) for fourth place.
As a team, the Red Devils finished seventh in the nation. The 4×100 relay team took second with a 45.21 second run. Sophomore Kayla Cleveland took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.45 second run.
The men’s team placed 18th.
The 4×100 relay team was first with a 39.21-second run.
Freshman Maurice Conner showed his potential after taking fifth in the 100-meter dash in 10.02 seconds. Sophomore Jalil Cooper took seventh in the 200-meter dash and 15th in the 100-meter dash prelims.
