Mustangs tangle with Prairie View

The Iola Middle School's 8th grade volleyball A-team fell to Prairie View, but the B-Team and 7th graders walked away from Monday's contest with some sweeps.

The Iola Middle School Mustangs made Prairie View earn every set while splitting a pair of contests Tuesday.

The 8th grade A-team fell 25-17, 25-19 and 26-24 in the best of five series. Cora Boren had a team-leading nine aces, followed by Moira Springer with five, then Willow Cremmer with one and Hilary Gean with one. Boren also had a team-leading 14 good passes, followed by Springer with 12, Gean with nine, Keira Goranson and Leanna Flory with eight, and then Ember Friend with six.

The 8th grade B-Team swept all three of its matches against the Buffaloes 25-15, 25-22 and 25-12. Leanna Flory had a team-leading 11 aces, followed by Lordon Hutton and Cremmer with four, Helena Morrison and Brynna Jelinek with two each and Gabriela Guerrero-Geilser with one.

The 7th graders swept all six of their sets in both A- and B-team action against Prairie View. 

The Mustangs return to the hardwood Thursday for a game on the road against Burlington.
