MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s boys picked up a pair of hard-fought victories Thursday.

The Wildcat A team prevailed, 27-25, over Southeast of Cherokee, while the B team rolled to a 30-17 victory.

“We really worked hard and made good decisions when we had to,” Wildcat head coach Byron Marshall said. “I was really proud of how we played and the crowd was amazing.”

Leading the charge in the A team victory were Thomas Allee and Dagan Barney, each of whom scored eight points. Allee drilled a pair of 3-pointers in the pivotal fourth quarter.

The teams were knotted at 8-8 at halftime and 16-16 after three.

Cooper Scharff added six points and Ethan Lawson five.

Kris McVey’s eight points were the catalyst for Marmaton Valley’s B team victory, all coming in the first quarter. 

Truett Blevins, Brady Burton and Kaden McVey added four points each. Scoring two points apiece were Allee, Brendon Newman, Colin Ard and Tucker Sutton.
