BUFFALO — Marmaton Valley High’s girls found their offensive groove Tuesday evening, pouring in 58 points against Altoona-Midway High in a 58-37 victory.
Coach Kent Houk could only wonder what the Wildcats’ output would have been had they hit all of their inside shots.
“We probably missed 10 to 15 shots from right under the basket,” Houk said.
That said, the Wildcats’ hustle, particularly on defense, led the way to some easy scoring opportunities.
Marmaton Valley (5-9 overall) turned on the jets — no pun intended — with an 18-10 scoring run in the second quarter to lead 31-17. Altoona-Midway kept pace in the third quarter, trailing 42-29, but Marmaton Valley closed the game with a 16-8 run.
Kacie Shadden led the way for Marmaton Valley with 16 points and six steals, followed by Kaitlin Ensminger and Mackenzie Tynon with 10 points each. Kailey Boyd added six points, 10 rebounds and six steals.
Nichole LaCrone led the Jets with 18 points.
Marmaton Valley hosts Uniontown Friday.
