Last week saw highs and lows for Yates Center volleyball as they went 0-2 at Eureka on Tuesday and 3-0 at Uniontown on Thursday.
At Eureka, a strong first set couldn’t overcome Marmaton Valley. Yates Center fell 14-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Madelynn Collins led the way in kills, recording 12 with just three errors to go along with a team-high three aces. Taylor Jacobs led the team in assists and Allison Pringle made three blocks. Cassie Ballin pitched in on the defensive end with 10 digs.
In their second set versus host Eureka, the Lady Wildcats were outmatched, falling 0-2 (25-5, 25-12).
Pringle and Jacobs were co-kill leaders, each getting eight, while Jacobs and Collins both recorded an ace. Jacobs had 12 assists and Collins grabbed eight digs in the loss.
Skies did get brighter two days later at Uniontown, where not only did the Wildcats not lose a match, they didn’t lose a set.
Versus Oswego, Yates Center felt some pressure, but never enough to fully feel threatened as they won 2-0 (25-18, 25-18).
Collins and Jacobs led the way with eight kills apiece with an impressive service statline for Jacobs recording seven aces on 20 attempts with no errors.
Pringle had two blocks in the contest and Collins and Stephanie Righini both had double digit digs with 17 and 11, respectively.
Defense was key as Yates Center steamrolled Altoona-Midway 2-0  (25-7, 25-5). The Lady Wildcats recorded 29 digs in the two sets with every player recording at least one dig,
Jacobs led the way with five kills and Pringle put up seven aces  and two blocks in the contest.
Finally, against host Uniontown, the first set was very much the same as the Lady Wildcats rolled by winning 25-14.
The second set provided the greatest challenge of the day. Still, the Wildcats  won by five, 25-20.
Collins and Righini led their team with five kills and Pringle recorded three aces. Collins also led the way in digs with nine.
Pringle also continued her dominance at the net, recording three blocks.
Yates Center takes on Marais des Cygnes at home today.
