COLONY — A blistering start propelled Crest High’s boys to victory Thursday.
The Lancers rode the hot shooting of Lane Yocham as they raced to a 21-10 lead after one quarter.
The pace slowed after that, but the Lancers remained in front from there in a 50-42 victory.
The win lifts the Lancers to 16-4 as they headed to Jayhawk-Linn Friday in a game not finished by press time.
The Bulldogs kept things close after Crest’s hot start, trailing 27-19 at halftime and 42-32 after three quarters.
Yocham and Kole Walter combined to hit 3 of 6 free throws down the stretch to keep the lead out of reach.
Yocham wound up with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, followed by Walter with nine points. Xander Fuller and Koiy Miller each scored seven.
Alec Tice scored 12 and Dustin Foster 11 for the Bulldogs.
Crest hosts Northeast-Arma Tuesday.
