Despite an extremely wet summer, construction efforts at Riverside Park remain on schedule with plans to have the field turf ready before Iola hosts Burlington September 11.

The landscape of Riverside Park is changing by the day as contractors install artificial turf at the stadium there.

With Iola High School’s home opener against Burlington scheduled for Sept. 11, DCS Services Project Manager Chad Marlow said crews will have more than enough time to complete the project.

“There was a lot of rain in the early summer, and June was a bear, but the crew really made up some ground lately with the dry weather,” said Marlow, who projected contractors should have the project completed within two or three weeks.
