Jay and Sharon Thyer were married June 11, 1961, at the home of the bride’s parents, Nelson and Wilma Whitcomb, in Kincaid. The couple will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
After his discharge from the U.S. Navy, the couple moved to Iola in February of 1963 when he was employed by the Iola Police Department. He retired in 1994 and then worked for Haldex Brake Corporation for seven years. Before retiring for the final time he worked 4 1/2 years for Allen County as a jailer and transport officer. She was a full-time mother and active with Jay in their church.…
