Truck overturns
A truck driven by Raiden Cook overturned 5 miles southeast of Iola Saturday.
Cook told Allen County sheriff’s deputies he had been traveling on Minnesota Road and lost control of his vehicle due to loose gravel. Cook, who received minor injuries, and his two passengers, who were uninjured, reported wearing their seat belts.
Steer shot
Joseph Warren told deputies Saturday a steer weighing about 500 pounds was shot and killed southwest of Bronson.
Iolan arrested for suspected sex crimes
Allen County sheriff’s deputies arrested Logan M. Gray, 24, Iola, Friday in the 400 block of 1200 Street south of Humboldt, for a warrant alleging indecent liberties with a child.
Break-in reported
Deputies received a report of a break-in involving a firearm June 23 in the 1800 block of U.S. 54 east of Iola.
Steven Bain, 38, rural Colony, was arrested for suspicion of burglary, criminal threat and interfering with law enforcement.
Scam reported
An Iola resident reported to sheriff’s deputies Saturday about being scammed after giving personal information, along with access to a computer and cell phone to what was thought to be a computer virus company’s employee.
Instead, the victim wound up losing more than $2,000 in credit card, checking account and Venmo charges.
Vehicle hit
Krista Cubit was stopped at the eastbound stop sign at the intersection of Oregon Road and U.S. 169 when her vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by John Welch.
Neither was injured; both were wearing seat belts.
Deer hit
Danielle Smith struck a deer southeast of Iola on U.S. 169 Thursday. Smith, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
Arrests reported
Stephanie R. Skinner, 28, rural Chanute, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to comply with a misdemeanor traffic violation.
Austin E. Bradley, 23, rural Iola, was taken into custody at the Allen County Courthouse Thursday and booked into the Allen County Jail on a warrant alleging failure to comply to drug possession charges.
Zachary Kelly, 45, LaCygne, was arrested June 24 on a probation revocation warrant.
Chase S. Appling, 30, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for suspicion of criminal damage to property June 23 following an incident in the 600 block of East Walnut Street in Gas.
